BFI London Film Festival
During my time as the Events Programmer for the BFI London Film Festival, from 2008-2010, I curated and delivered more than forty-five events, ranging from on-stage career interviews with high-profile actors and directors, to more intimate panel discussions with a number of different filmmakers. The career interviews required negotiating an agreement with the talent’s agent or the distributor of the film with which they were associated, researching and writing the copy for the brochure and selecting clips from their respective oeuvres to show onscreen during the events. The panel discussions allowed for, and indeed required, much more creativity and research: to consider connections between films across the entire festival programme and bring together cast and crew to discuss those connections. It is these smaller, more intricately crafted events that I look back on with the most affection and sense of achievement.
