E1: STORIES OF REFUGE & RESISTANCE (2018) - HD 11min40 (Experimental)

Essentially an audio walk, presented in audiovisual form, the work reflects on moments in historical and cultural memory that challenge or disrupt ideologies of hatred and oppression. These moments stretch across multiple (spatio)temporalities, inviting the listener/walker to engage affectively with the sounds that they hear, to make their own connections between these individual stories and create their own, over-arching narrative. Their own subjectivity will inform how deep that affective engagement is, contingent on the level of empathy and compassion that they are willing to bring to the encounter with these stories.
